The Lancer Feed
Because there were no applicants for the open study hall position, In-School Suspension teacher Dale Walker has been supervising the study hall room each day since the beginning of the year, and Student Restore Program teacher Whitney Ralph is supervising students in ISS. “It’s temporary. They’re looking for a permanent teacher to fill in, so they had me move here to have a constant person,” Walker said.

To recognize the lives lost in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, junior Vedika Kumar leads a line of ROTC cadets in the annual Patriot Day Ceremony on Sept. 9. Coordinating the event is one of the community service projects performed by ROTC members.

School board takes action to address recent controversy
Hall passes at Lafayette are now color-coordinated based on classroom location and the closest corresponding bathroom. The decision was made in response to students roaming the halls after asking to go to the bathroom.

The Lafayette Lancers head south down Highway 109 for this year’s Battle of 109 against the Eureka Wildcats on Oct. 7. Lafayette fell to Eureka 35-14, in the Catpound during last year’s match-up. When the Lancers travel to EHS this year, they will be looking to gain some ground in the annual event, where the Wildcats have a 9-4 advantage. Seniors Baylor Adamovsky and Braden Kladney both scored in last year’s contest and junior Zae Jones led the returning offense in rushing and passing yards. With the rest of the varsity squad, they are working to be ready to face the Wildcats on their turf in hopes of spoiling an EHS Homecoming game. The Superfans will also do their part off the field to get Lancer fans to fill the visitor stands for the 7 p.m. kick-off.

During a swim meet against Francis Howell Central, junior Caleb Warner performs the butterfly stroke. Warner placed 3rd in state last year for 100 meter breaststroke.
Boys swim hopes to improve during current season
In a match again Ladue on Sept. 1, tennis captain and senior Saanvi Gudreddi follows through on a volley. Gudreddi is looking forward to getting closer with the new members on the team and has a goal to have a better attitude towards losses this season.

In the 4x800 relay, juniors Grace Tyson, Natalie Barnard and freshman Avery Brown and Lauren Pauls get first place.

On Art Hill in Forest Park, a special memorial for the 9/11 anniversary displays nearly 7,500 American flags — one for each of the nation’s men and women killed in military combat since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, as well as the 412 first responders who died in the line of duty that day.
