At the 2023 Prom, Class of 2023 graduates Joe Marlo and Will Barry stay at the edge of the main floor to do their dancing. Because the small dance floor was the most crowded area, many students gathered around the edges with friends or in small groups.

Boys track wins meet, baseball goes undefeated this week

Weekly Sports Update April 15-21

Baseball

Last week, the Lancers went 2-0 beating Lindbergh and Jackson. Lafayette played Lindbergh and won 2-1 April 17. Then, they played Jackson the morning of April 20, and won 3-1. The Lancers will play six games next week. First, they will play Parkway West April 23 and 24. Then they will play Rock Bridge, Webster Groves and Francis Howell April 26, 27 and 29 respectively.

 

Boys Golf

Boys Golf played Kirkwood and won 250-246 on April 17. Junior Mack Freeman tied for the low round with a 3-over par round.

 

Boys Lacrosse

Boys Lacrosse played Rockwood Summit and Houston this week. The Lancers beat Summit 7-6 April 18 and they beat Houston 7-5 April 21. Next week they will play Marquette on April 24 and Parkway West April 27.

 

Girls Lacrosse

Last week, the Lady Lancers played Wentzville and traveled to Kentucky to compete in the Louisville Sacred Heart tournament. Girls Lacrosse lost to Wentzville 10-15 April 19 and had a record of 1-2 at the Louisville Sacred Heart Tournament April 19 and 20. At the tournament, Lancers won against Mercy Academy 5-2 April 19 and lost against both North Oldham 7-8 and Lexington Clay 5-11, April 20. The Lady Lancers have two home games this week. First, they play Pattonville April 24 at 5:30 p.m. and then they play Eureka in the Battle of 109 at 12:30 p.m. April 27.

 

Girls Soccer

The Lady Lancers went 0-2 last week. They lost to Nerinx Hall 2-0 and Visitation 3-2 in penalty kicks. The Lady Lancers will play Summit April 27 and will compete at the Orchard Farms Tournament. 

 

Boys Tennis

The Lancers had two losses last week to Francis Howell 8-1 and Westminster 7-2. Their next game will be away against Chaminade April 22, Marquette April 23 and Parkway South April 24 with a home game against Kirkwood April 25. 

 

Boys Track

The Lancers placed 1st at the Festus Invitational on April 19. Senior Tabari Tinsley placed 1st in the 100-meter, senior Jack Robeson placed 1st in the 1600-meter, junior Carl King placed 1st in the 300-meter hurdles and senior Christian Erkert placed 1st in javelin with junior Robby Preckel placing 2nd. The Lancers’ next meet will be at Parkway South on April 25-26.

 

Girls Track

The Lady Lancers finished 3rd at the Festus Invitational. Freshman Kelly Archambeault placed 1st in the 1600-meter and sophomore Chloe Tabb placed 1st in the triple jump. In the Kansas Relays, senior Natalie Barnard placed 3rd in the 3200-meter with a time of 10:29, 3 seconds of the school record. The Lady Lancers will compete at Eureka on April 25.

 

Boys Volleyball

The Lancers broke their undefeated record by going 7-1 last week. They beat Francis Howell Central, Webster Groves and Mehlville in conference play. At the Colt Classic at Parkway Central, the Lancers swept Oakville, Parkway West and SLUH. However, they would go on to lose to eventual champions Parkway Central, with the Colts winning 2-0. LHS would go on to win a consolation game against Marquette to finish 3rd in the tournament. The Lancers are 16-1 and senior Lucas Tran is third in the St. Louis areas in kills per set, averaging 4.66 kills per set. This week the Lancers have a lighter schedule, only playing Oakville at home at 5:30 p.m. April 23 and then traveling to Lindbergh April 25. 

 

Boys Water Polo

The Lancers won their one conference game last week, beating De Smet 16-3. Then they went 1-4 at the Lindbergh Invitational. They beat Oakville 13-8, then lost to Kirkwood 11-9, Naperville North 14-12 and Winnetka New Trier 19-11. The Lancers’ record is now 12-7-1. They have two conference games this week, at home against Ladue at 6:30 p.m. April 22 and then away at John Burroughs April 25. Then they will compete at the John Burroughs Invitational April 26 and 27. 

 

Girls Water Polo

The Lady Lancers went 0-3 last week. They lost to Kirkwood 11-8, Parkway North 10-5 and Oakville 10-3. The Lady Lancers have one home game this week against Ladue at 6:30 p.m. Then they will host the Lafayette Girls Tournament April 25-27.
