Weekly sports update: Nov. 4-Nov. 10

In the District Final, junior Mitchell Grant outruns a CBC defender. The Lancers lost the game, 1-0 in overtime, and ended the season with a record of 18-7-1.

Boys Cross Country: The Lancers traveled to Columbia, Missouri to compete in the Missouri High School State Athletic Association (MSHSAA) Class 4 Boys Cross Country Meet. This year was the team’s 8th consecutive year going to State, and they placed 15th at the event.

Boys Soccer: On Monday, Nov. 4, the team played against District rival, Marquette, and beat them 2-1 in the District semifinals. They went on to play CBC on Wednesday, Nov. 6, but lost to them 1-0 in overtime. To end the season, they had a record of 18-7-1, and their top scorer was sophomore Kaden Karr with eight goals and eight assists.

Boys Swimming: In the Conference Meet at Lindbergh on Wednesday, Nov. 6, the Lancers had medals all across the board. Senior Josh Luter placed 1st in the 50-meter free, and sophomore Devin Gordon placed 2nd out of 17 divers. Those who qualified for the 200-meter free relay were seniors Josh Luter, Mason Rega, junior Ty Myers and sophomore Dylan Vorbeck. Those who qualified for the 400-meter free relay were juniors Josh Moellenhoff, Myers, Gavin Wood and Vorbeck.

Girls Cross Country: On Nov. 8, the Lady Lancers traveled to Columbia, Missouri to race in the MSHSAA Class 4 Girls Cross Country Meet. This was the team’s first time going to State in five years. They placed 6th at the event, with freshman Grace Tyson placing 3rd in the entire event. Other runners who placed include juniors Hope Ware, 31st and Kelsey Johnson, 34th.

Girls Volleyball: On Nov. 8-9, the Lady Lancers participated in the MSHSAA Class 4 Girls Volleyball State Tournament. This was the 9th time in 10 years that the team has gone to State. The first night, they played against all the teams in the Quarterfinals. They won one match against Liberty, one match against Nixa, and both matches against Francis Howell Central. The following day, they played Nixa one last time in the finals, but fell in two sets to take the second place trophy.
