Over the last five matches, the varsity girls volleyball team has defeated every opponent, not counting tournaments, in two sets, never going into a third set. The team has displayed dominance that wasn’t present in their first game, but since then the team has rallied together and conjured up a winning streak.

Hannah Flowers, Merry Gebel and Staciana Stock lead the team with kills. Flowers has 60, Gebel with 50 and Stock with 38, respectively.

Lafayette’s offense has been solid, but their defense has complimented their stellar play.

“Our defense has had a huge impact on our offensive play,” Defensive Specialist Mell Flowers (no relation to Hannah Flowers) said.

Mell has a total of 59 digs, which is only second to Kailey Kantouth who has 102 respectively.

“We’re just trying to get better each game,” Head Coach Zach Young said. “We’ve definitely seen some improvement from the first match of the year until now.”

The team’s next game comes against Cor Jesu on Sept. 13 starting around 5:45 p.m.
