Ranked sixth in the nation, the Lafayette Lancers boy’s cross country team was back in action on Sept. 5 in Memphis, Tennessee. The team scored a total of 48 points while the second place West Plains scored 119 points.

Senior Devin Meyrer placed second in the meet with a time of 15:43, and right behind him was Senior Alec Haines who finished with a 15:58 time. Senior Dylan Quisenberry finished fourth with a time of 16:06.

The team was rounded out by Junior Tommy Laarman (16:44) and Sophomore Nassim Ouffatole (17:06).

“To go out and win that meet was really awesome,” Meyrer said. “Our mentality going into the meet was just to compete for places and prove to the nation that we are a team that deserves to be recognized, and I think we did just that.”

As the team continues to win meets and make national headlines, the team will have to show that they deserve to be there.

We are ranked 6th nationally so we have a lot to live up to, and I’m hoping for results just like we had in Memphis,” Haines said.

The team’s next meet will take place at Forest Park for the Forest Park Invitational on Sept. 12.
