Boys Basketball

The Lancers went 2-1 this week. Lafayette won 59-37 against Francis Howell Central and 71-69 against Park Hill Central. In the Park Hill Central game, senior John Renken hit a buzzer beater to win the game. In an away game against Windsor, the Lancers lost, 68-67. At 5:30 p.m Feb. 29, the Lancers will have their Conference quarterfinals game against Lebanon at Parkway South.

Girls Basketball

In their only game of the week, against Francis Howell Central, the Lady Lancers lost 59-27. For next week, the Lady Lancers will play their Conference quarterfinals game against Kirkwood at Parkway South Feb. 28.

Hockey

The Lancers lost both legs of their Wickenheiser Cup Semifinal against Clayton. They first lost 5-2 and then lost 4-3. They have concluded their season.

Boys Wrestling

The Lancers, improving from last year, finished 2nd in State, Feb. 23-24. Senior Andrew Wier took a bracket, becoming a State Champion. Senior Drew Mattison and freshmen Carter Brown, Caleb Frankenberger and Riley Sumner all finished 3rd at State. Senior Dylan Roth finished 4th, alongside junior Aiden Schoen. Roth became the second-ever Lancer to medal all four years at State. Sophomore Calum Brown finished 6th. Andrew was happy his father and team coach, Joe Wier, had a front row seat to his State Championship win. “I wanted him  to be there because he’s pushed me my whole life and I really wanted to [win] for him. We can pick who our coaches were and he doesn’t normally coach me, but I picked him to be my coach for that match to share that moment with him,” Andrew said.

Girls Wrestling

With the same finish as last year, the Lady Lancers placed 6th at State. Senior Maddie Johnson was a State finalist, finishing 2nd. Senior Toby Goertz and junior Aaliyah Grammer finished 4th. Junior Hannah Henderson placed 5th and sophomore Ella Kimbrough finished 6th.
