Sport: Girls Swimming and Diving
Head coach: Nate Korteum
Last season placement: Last season, Lafayette finished 23rd at the Class 2 State tournament.
What are your goals for the team? “Expectations for the team are to win the majority of our dual meets. I’d also like to get a top 10 finish at State and I would like to have all three relays qualify for State and for the girls to really learn the process of working hard, having a hard work ethic, enjoying swimming and just improving themselves as students and swimmers,” Korteum said.
How will you manage the team as a new head coach of the team? According to Coach Korteum, the team has lots of senior leadership, which he hopes to rely on throughout the season.
“The seniors on this team are amazing leaders for this program. We have a lot of new freshmen coming in that are good swimmers. Hopefully this will help build the program down the line with that senior leadership to teach these younger kids what it means to be a leader and have quality work,” Korteum said.
Swimmers and divers to watch: Some key swimmers and divers Korteum has identified are seniors Lucia Tenny, who finished 3rd at State, and Talia Ramsey, who has been working to improve over the summer, according to Korteum. Junior Isabel Cleo and Lily Thebeau, and sophomore Sydney Schulze are also key to the team.
Sydney Schulze
Goals for the Season: “My main goal for this season is to place in the top 16 at state in the 100 backstroke and swim another individual event. I also hope to help our relays make state finals. As a team, we want to be undefeated in our dual meets this season,” Schulze said.
What are you looking forward to this season? “I’m excited to see how well our team does this year. We have a lot of amazing athletes including some great freshmen that I’m looking forward to seeing progress. We all have big goals and I think that we can be extremely successful in accomplishing our goals,” Schulze said.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
