Weekly sports update: Sept. 30-Oct. 6

Boys Cross Country: The team placed tenth out of twenty teams at the Dale Shepherd Invitational on Saturday Oct. 5 with a final score of 312. Later this week, the team will compete in the All Suburban Conference Championships on Oct. 12 at 9 a.m.

Boys Soccer: On Sept. 30 the soccer team beat Parkway West, 3-2. The team scored two goals in the last seven minutes to secure the win. The team plays next on Oct. 7 at Ladue.

Boys Swimming: On Oct. 1 the team lost to Eureka 98-88. Although the team lost, senior Devon Gordon finished fourth overall and qualified for the upcoming State Championship.

Field Hockey: On Sept. 30 the Lancers beat Oakville 4-0. They then faced Rockwood Summit on Oct. 2. Before that game, the team had lost to Summit earlier in the year but was able to pull off a 5-1 win on the half-day. Senior night was celebrated on Oct. 4 and the girls beat Edwardsville 6-2. The team plays their next game on Oct. 7 at Eureka at 4:30.

Football: On Oct. 4 the Lancers traveled to Parkway South to take on the Patriots. The team held the Patriots scoreless throughout the game to come up with a 47-0 win. The team is heading into the homecoming game on Oct. 11 with a 5-1 record, their only loss being to Eureka. They face off against Parkway North on Friday night at 7:30 p.m for their homecoming game.

Girls Cross Country: The team placed 16th out of 19 teams in the Dale Shepherd Invitational on Saturday Oct. 5 with a final score of 401. Their next meet will be the All Suburban Conference Championships on Oct. 12 at 9 a.m.

Girls Golf: On Oct. 1, the Lady Lancers faced Rockwood Summit for the second time this season. This time, they won by two points, 165-167. The following day, on Oct. 2, the team competed in the Suburban Conference Tournament and placed second as a team. Junior Brooke Biermann finished in second place of all golfers with a 72, and sophomore Caitlin Przybylski placed eighth with a score of 88. Their last game of the regular season will be on Oct. 8 at 8 a.m, where they will be competing in the Class 2 District 3 Tournament at Crescent Farms.

Girls Tennis: The team played their final match of the season on Oct. 2. All of the team’s members beat Cor Jesu, leaving the score 9-0 to finish the season.

Girls Volleyball: On Oct. 5, the volleyball team competed in the Blue Springs Invitational. In their first matches, they beat Nixa 2-1. Then they lost to Blue Springs Academy in three matches, and St. James Academy in two matches. They continued on in the tournament, playing in the silver bracket. They beat Lee’s Summit North in two matches, and beat rival Cor Jesu in three matches, becoming the silver bracket champions in the process. On Oct. 8, they’ll play at home against Eureka at 5:30 p.m, and then they’ll play at Kirkwood on Oct. 9, with the first serve set for 5:30 as well.

Softball: The Lady Lancers only played one game this week. On Oct. 1, they played Rockwood Summit and tied 9-9, coming back from a 7-0 deficit late in the game. The tie was called due to no more daylight on the field. This week, they’ll play three games. On Oct. 7, they’ll play at Francis Howell North. The following day, they’ll play Marquette High School for their annual Pink Game at Ellisville Athletic Association, with the first pitch being at 6:30 p.m. Their final game of the week will be at home against Hillsboro on Oct. 9, with the first pitch set to take place at 4:15 p.m.
