After tough first loss, girls volleyball bounces back

The first few games for girls volleyball have come and gone and the team has had a solid start to the season.

Their first challenge came against the St. Joseph’s Angels and the team struggled to compete in that game. They never got into a flow and right when Lafayette would come close, the Angels would go off with a string of points. The Lady Lancers ended up losing that game  16-25, 15-25.

Despite losing their opening game, Lafayette came back strong with two compelling victories. One against Parkway West, 25-4, 25-19, and the other against Villa Duchesne, 25-18, 25-14.

“We didn’t have the energy and effort that we expect from ourselves during our first match,” Head Coach Zach Young said. “However, we’ve improved a lot over the last two matches with wins over Parkway West and defending Class 3 Champion Villa Duchesne.”

The teams next game will be against Northwest Cedar Hill on Sept. 1 at home starting at 5:30 p.m.
