Weekly sports update: Aug. 28-Sept. 1

Boys Cross Country: The team has yet to run in a meet this early in the season, but the Lancers will compete in the Fort Zumwalt North Twilight Invitational on Sept. 7 at Pheasant Run Golf Course. The varsity boys run will start at 8:30 p.m.

Boys Soccer: In the upcoming week, the Lancers will play three games. On Sept. 3, they will play Liberty at 4:30 p.m at Lafayette, and on Sept 4, they will play Rockwood Summit at 4:30 p.m, also at Lafayette. Then, they will travel to Francis Howell North on Sept. 5 to play in their final game of the week at 4:30 p.m.

Boys Swimming: The team faced off at Parkway West this week on Aug. 30. They lost against the Longhorns, 120 points to 65, but look to redeem themselves on Sept. 3 against Parkway Central. The meet will take place at the Lafayette pool, at 4:30 p.m.

Field Hockey: Over the weekend, the field hockey team competed at SportPort Athletic Complex in the Gateway Classic tournament. They lost against Kentucky Country Day 4-3, tied Cor Jesu 0-0, and also tied Charlotte Country Day, 2-2. The Lady Lancers will play in their first home game on Sept. 3 against Webster Groves, at 4:30 p.m.

Football: In their first home game of the season, the Lancers won against Timberland 14-7 on Aug. 30. Senior Caden Phipps had a 97 yard run in the first play of the game to score the first touchdown for the Lancers, while senior Jake Nelson ran in a fumble recovery in the fourth quarter to add another touchdown to the Lancer score. The team plays their next game on Sept. 6 at Hazelwood East at 4:15 p.m.

Girls Cross Country: The Lady Lancers will compete in their first race of the season on Sept. 7 at the Pheasant Run Golf Course. Their race is scheduled to take place at 8 p.m.

Girls Golf: On Sept. 3, the Lady Lancers will compete in their first meet of the season. They will play against Parkway Central at 3:45 p.m. at the Four Seasons Golf Course. Then, they will also face off against Kirkwood on Sept. 5 at 3:45 p.m at the Ballwin Golf Course.

Girls Tennis: The Lady Lancers have four matches in the upcoming week. First, they will play against Clayton on Sept. 3, at Lafayette, starting at 4:15 p.m. Then, they will travel to Eureka on Sept. 4 to play at 4:30 p.m. On Sept. 5, they will play against Parkway West at Lafayette, at 4:15 p.m. Their final game of the week will be on Sept. 6 against John Burroughs, also at Lafayette at 4:15 p.m.

Girls Volleyball: Lafayette played against Oakville on Aug. 30 and won two sets of the three, 25-21 and 25-17. The Lady Lancers will play on Sept. 3 at Lafayette against Villa Duchesne at 5:30 p.m, and then play at Lafayette again on Sept. 4 against St. Joseph’s. Their final game of the week will be on Sept. 5 at Northwest, with the first serve at 5:30 p.m.

Softball: The tournament that the Lady Lancers were scheduled to play in over Labor Day weekend at Chesterfield Athletic Association was cancelled due to rain, but they will play in their first home game on Sept. 4 against Hazelwood West, with the first pitch at 4:15 p.m. Their next game will be on Sept. 6 at 4:30 p.m and they will be playing at Parkway South.
