Weekly sports update: Jan. 27-Feb. 3

Boys Basketball: The boys basketball team acquired two wins over the last week. On Jan. 29, they beat Ritenour with the final score being 64-51. On Feb. 1, the Lancers won a close match against Jennings, with the final score being 49-47. Their next game will take place on Feb. 5 at Webster Groves with the game starting at 7 p.m.

Boys Wrestling: The boys wrestling team’s meet against Mehlville on Jan. 31 was cancelled due to inclement weather. The Lancer’s next meet is on Feb. 8 where they will compete in the Class 4 District 1 Tournament. The Lancers will go into the tournament ranked fifth in Class 4.

Girls Basketball: The girls basketball team fell to Parkway North 41-38 on Jan. 29. Junior Tara Robbe and Sophomore Brynn Jeffries had 11 and 10 rebounds, respectively. The Lancers will play on Feb. 5 at Parkway South.

Girls Swimming: On Feb. 2, the girls swim competed at Districts. Cate Behl, senior, Sarah Higgins, junior, Claire Van Biljon, junior and Dylan Moulton, freshman, took first place in the 400 meter relay. The Lady Lancers finished with 298.5 points, behind Kirkwood and Marquette.

Girls Wrestling: The girls wrestling team finished first in their District Tournament which consisted of 39 teams. The Lady Lancers had five wrestlers qualify for the State Tournament including junior Emma Cole and freshman Faith Cole who were District champions, sophomore Josette Partney and freshman Derionna Johnson who placed second and senior Treasure Smith who finished third. Faith became the first female wrestler in Missouri history to qualify for the new girls State Tournament. The team is ranked first in Missouri going into the State Tournament which will take place in two weeks in Columbia, Missouri.

Ice Hockey: The boys hockey team obtained two wins over the weekend. On Feb. 1, the team defeated Francis Howell Central 6-2. On Feb. 2, the team competed against Clayton at the Brentwood Ice Arena and won 5-1.
