McCaskill, Hawley to participate in televised debate Thursday, Oct. 18

With Election Day less than a month away, Missouri senatorial candidates Claire McCaskill and Josh Hawley have agreed to participate in an hour-long televised debate.
The event, which was organized by St. Louis-area broadcasters KSDK, KETC and St. Louis Public Radio, will be held on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. It will be the first and only live-televised debate between the political opponents before the election, which is on Nov. 6. The debate will be moderated by Judy Woodruff from PBS NewsHour, Mike Bush from KSDK and Jo Mannies from St. Louis Public Radio, according to KSDK’s Jacob Long.
On the campaign trail, McCaskill and Hawley have clashed on a number of hot-button issues, such as healthcare, immigration and Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination.
McCaskill, a Democrat, is currently serving in the United States Senate, a seat she has held since 2006. Hawley, a Republican, was elected Missouri Attorney General in 2016, deciding to challenge the incumbent senator after just two years in office.
The debate will broadcast across the state through NPR, PBS and NBC affiliate stations. The Nine Network is also live-streaming the event. You can view it here starting at 7 p.m.
