AP Testing Registration begins Feb. 13

Amanda Shaw, Asst. Webmaster

For Advanced Placement (AP) students, registering for AP exams is the next thing on their school to-do list.

Registration will start on Friday, Feb. 13 and end Friday, Feb. 20. Students can register online at the Lafayette website.

Students will pay $95 for each exam but must pay a $20 late fee for exam registrations submitted after Feb 20.  No exam registrations will be accepted after Feb. 27.

“Just register early and avoid a late fee. Exams are already expensive enough,” Jessica Brawner, Test Coordinator, said.

The exams will take place at the Wildwood Hotel. Students need to bring No. 2 pencils, pens with black or dark blue ink and photo I.D. Also, exams for certain classes may require a calculator.

“Students will log in, enter all regular data information, pick the exams they’re taking and pay online,” Brawner said.

According to the Lafayette website, a complete listing of What to Bring to the Exam Room and What not to Bring to the Exam Room can be found in the Bulletin for AP Students and Parents.

During the exam, there will be a break between Sections I and II, but students may not leave the building. Food, drinks and electronics, including watches that may have alerts or alarms will not be permitted and students should not bring any sort of backpack or bag either. The AP Student site also warns students against sharing information about the exams they’ve taken.

Do not email, text, post or in any other way circulate AP Exam information through any kind of social media, or your AP Exam score may be cancelled and you could also be banned from taking future AP Exams.

If there are any problems with the exam, students can print and complete an AP Question Ambiguity and Error Form and mail it to AP Assessment Development. Students may also repeat exams, but must keep in mind that both scores will be reported unless one is requested to be cancelled.

Conflicts with the testing date can be easily resolved with the late testing period.

According to the AP Students site, if you have an extreme circumstance that prevents you from taking the AP Exam on the regularly scheduled exam date (for example, if you wish to take exams that are scheduled for the same time slot or if you have a serious illness) go see Brawner to find out if your school offers the option to take an alternate exam during the late-testing period.

However, taking an exam during the late testing period can cause scores to be delayed, free-response booklets may be unavailable and depending on the reason for the student missing the original exam, the student may have to pay an extra late testing fee of $45.

Any other problems can be solved by contacting Brawner in the Counselors office.
