Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

Passion for fashion: Day and Night Fashion Show

Passion for fashion: Day and Night Fashion Show

Lights will shine down center stage on Wednesday, March 13 for the Day and Night Fashion Show hosted by the Fashion Club.

Models and one of a kind designs created by students will be displayed in the Theatre at 7 p.m. The student models and designers that will be featured in the fashion show are solely volunteers.

Erin Hagglund, Fashion Club sponsor and FACS teacher, says that the fashion show will be held in the Theater for the first time, unlike previous years where it was held in the commons during lunch hours.

“It is a step up from the past and I’m sure it will be fabulous,” Hagglund said.

The Day and Night Fashion Show will feature full hair and makeup, which is being donated by a local salon.

The backbone, or better put the mannequin stand, of the show is the current Fashion Design & Merchandising students who are planning the show, recruiting models and including some of their own designs from class and outside of school.

Hagglund said students from fashion classes and Fashion Club are being showcased as well as students who are not in these classes or Fashion Club. She said they want to feature and involve as many students as possible.

Hagglund said the seniors in Fashion Construction and Fashion Club, as well as the Fashion and Merchandising students, are organizing and executing the entire show.

According to Hagglund, senior Ashley Armstrong plays an instrumental piece in putting the show together. Armstrong, who loves designing wedding couture, said her inspiration for becoming a designer came from Disney.

“When I was little I always watched Disney movies with princesses and everything; it was my dream after that,” Armstrong said.

The fashion show will feature not only Armstorng’s designs but also designs by many other talented students.

Tickets will be on sale at lunch for $3 and will be $5 at the door; however, the Fashion Club will be collecting clothing donations as well and if a donation is made, admission is free.

Hagglund said all of the proceeds from the fashion show go to the charity Dress for Success, which is an organization that is designed to help underprivileged women by giving them clothes in order to help them move forward and progress in their work life.

Donations can be made from March 11 to March 13 at lunch and a clothing donation box will also be available.

The Dress for Success website said the organization, “is an international non-profit organization offering services designed to help our clients find jobs and remain employed.”

The Day and Night Fashion Show is not only an amazing way to help a worthy organization, but it also gives the opportunity to showcase students’ talents and their passion for fashion.

Many, in fact, are urging to pursue careers in the fast track fashion world.

“This may be an event to remember them by…before they make it big!” Hagglund said.
