Imagine getting out your brand new Monopoly board game, ready to play as your favorite piece, the Battleship, and the piece is missing! What happened?
Monopoly was created in 1934 and the idea of the game is to dominate the board by owning all of the spaces and building houses on them, while avoiding going to jail and paying other players.
But on Feb. 6, 2012, Hasbro will announce which iconic game piece is going to retire. Will it be the Scotty Dog? Or the Wheelbarrow?
According to a poll of 150 students, 50 students picked the Scotty Dog as their favorite piece, and the Helicopter and the Robot were tied with 38 votes each as the piece students would like to see most in future editions of Monopoly.
To decide which piece will be replaced, Hasbro is letting fans vote to save their favorite pieces on the Monopoly Facebook page, as well as vote for which one they want brought in. Voting ends on Feb. 5.
