Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

Lancer athletes continue talent at next level

Lancer athletes continue talent at next level

Following this summer, many Class of 2013 athletes from LHS will embark on their journey to play at the collegiate level.

Many of these athletes aren’t the first from their family to go on to play in college.  One example of that would be senior Matthew Goro, who is going on to play baseball at the University of Webster. Goro is following in the footsteps of his older brother Nate, who also played in college, and was eventually drafted in the 46th round by the Detroit Tigers in 2009.

Others going on to participate in college are Shacquille Holley and Elliot Montgomery. They will be teammates, as they will both be attending Emporia State University for football. Adam Echele will also be going to school for football at Missouri S and T.

Signing with D1 schools for football, Gabe Kuhn and Jon Voit will be suiting up for the University of Memphis and Army this fall.

Other standouts, Maddie Jones (Central Missouri) and Lindsey Pecoraro (Spring Hill College)  both have attainted two state titles for girls volleyball.

For Men’s Track and Field, Kenneth Boyer II signed yesterday to compete for the University of Kansas.

Four Lancer soccer players will also move on to play in college, Madison Karas, Ashley Parks, Danielle Tolmais and Jamison Wipke. They will be competeting at Tennessee Tech, Florida Gulf Coast University, University of Memphis and Rockhurst University.

Star field hockey player Kate Barber, who holds the National record for career assists will be taking her talents to Indiana University this fall.

For LHS swimming, Jon Glaser and Taylor Holz signed with Missouri S and T and University of Arkansas Little Rock.

Finally, Hannah Schneider signed to play Girls Lacrosse at McKendree College. Schneider will be competing in her last season for LHS this spring.
