Hats on to Cancer

Hats+on+to+Cancer

On Friday, March 1st, students can sleep in knowing they don’t have to style their hair.

Lafayette, along with the entire Rockwood School District, will participate in a fundraiser called Hats on Day, were kids can donate a dollar to wear a hat during school.

All money raised will be donated to the Friends of Kids with Cancer. Its an organization that tries to distract kids from the struggles of dealing with cancer. They give kids toys, games and anything that will divert their attention from the severity of their treatments.

According to the Friends of Kids with Cancer website, “Friends doesn’t create miracles, we create the positive frame of mind in which they are achieved.”

Friends also helps fulfill the recreational, educational, and emotional need of those children and their families with programs that help pay for family meals and others like art therapy.

Students will receive a sticker after they have donated, teachers will check for the sticker if a student is wearing a hat. The only way one could were a hat is to donate.

Whether your donating because you have bed head or because you just like wearing a hat, it is a good way to help out your community. All the money raised helps kids in need and it all stays in the St. Louis area.

“I donated because I wanted to show of my blues hat signed by all the players,” Charlie Bischoff said, who participated last year

The stickers will be sold on the stage at lunch on the 27th and the 28th of February.

Any more information about donating to Friends of Kids with Cancer can be found on their website http://www.friendsofkids.com/
