Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

Freshman Winter Carnival to be held Jan. 26

The Winter Carnival is on Jan. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Gym. At this event, freshman will work games and run the carnival which kids from elementary and middle schools pay to attend.

“It is one of the biggest fundraisers for Senior Celebration at the end of their senior year,” Assistant Principal Colleen Fields, coordinator of the carnival, said.

The Senior Celebration has been held at Sports Fusion in previous years and the profits help provide for an entire night of fun after graduation. They need freshman to sign up in order to make the fundraiser successful. The more money raised,  the better the senior celebration.

The booths the freshman will work are games like Duck Pond, where the kids pick a duck with a number on the bottom and they win a prize according to it. According to Fields, there will also be basketball hoops set up along with other carnival games that little kids would like.

Parents looking to help can donate prizes like small toys, beanie babies, DVDs and soda bottles. The prizes can be new or gently used and all donations can be dropped off in the Freshman Office.

If you want to get your business out there you can sponsor a booth or game for $200 and a sign with your business name on it. Contact Dave Naeger at [email protected] for anything that deals with sponsorship.

Students, families or their parents can volunteer by going to http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0E49AAA62AA46-freshman1. The website can also be found on Fields’ blog on the Lafayette website.
