Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

District Art Show Set To Amaze

District+Art+Show+Set+To+Amaze

On April 20-21, the Rockwood School District Art Show will take place at Crestview Middle School, from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. This free event will feature students’ art from throughout the district, preschool through twelfth grade, and is expected to generate upwards of 15,000 visitors.

Lauren Sakowski, fine arts teacher, believes the Art Show will be successful.

“Having a successful show for a school district means having the ability to display artwork that exemplifies everything we are trying to instill in our students from the art curriculum. This year will be no different as far as measuring our success.” Sakowski said.

In addition to the student’s works of art, six professional artists will perform demonstrations throughout the two days.

“There will definitely be something for everyone.” Sakowski said.

As for the necessity of the Arts, Mark McHale, content facilitator for the Fine Art department, said, “In a time where budgets are tight and every dollar spent is scrutinized, it is important for people to see the power and beauty of art and its impact on society.”

For the children, face painting and chalk drawing is available. Shuttles will run from the FCC property at Clarkson and Clayton (next to the Mercy building) to Crestview and back to manage the traffic.
