Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

Homecoming Week focuses on Superhero theme

Superheroes and villains running loose; people getting hit with pies and soaked with water. These are the events to be expected during Homecoming Week.

Dress up days and lunch games have been a Homecoming Week tradition for years.  This year’s events will be related to the superhero theme.

Monday’s dress up day will be “Holiday Day” where students dress as their favorite seasonal holiday. Tuesday is “Dynamic Duo Day,” so grab a friend and go as your favorite hero and sidekick. Wednesday is “Denim Day,” so break out the jean jackets.  “Villain Day” is Thursday where everyone dresses as their favorite bad guys. Friday will be “Spirit Day.”

The lunch games are planned to be silly with games such as “lick it for tickets” where students are picked to lick random objects and guess what they are to win free Homecoming tickets.

Tuesday’s event is called “rock, paper, scissors, pie” which is for class points.

“We always try to do something where there’s a pie because who doesn’t like seeing someone get pied in the face?” David Choate, Student Council (STUCO) sponsor said.

No events are scheduled for the half day on Wednesday. Thursday’s event is “water wars.” This is just like the card game, “war”, except whoever loses will get a cup of water thrown in their face. The winner of this challenge is also awarded class points.

On Friday, the Jazz Band will give a performance during lunch.

“We’re trying something new this year where we’re kind of trying to give something away, so we’ll see how (the students) like that,” Choate said.
