On Thursday, Nov. 17, Lafayette staff members worked at the McDonald’s at the corner of Clarkson Rd. and Manchester Rd. as a fundraiser for the Renaissance program from 5-8 p.m.
James Waeckerle, social studies teacher, was one of these staff members who took a shift to help the cause. According to him, all of the staff members that volunteered to do so and each worked a one hour shift.
Waeckerle said he was excited for the opportunity, but also mentally preparing himself for the stress that it could bring.
“If it is busy it will be stressful, but I’ve worked in food service bfore so I know what to expect,” Waeckerle said.
The Renaissance program benifited no matter what, as 15 percent of the sales at the McDonalds were donated to the program, however the staff members hoped for a full house.
Students were also excited to see teachers working.
Junior Mallory Wesley said, “I think it will be weird to see [teachers] working behind the desk instead of teaching.”
Junior Ali Steele thinks it will be funny, and even wants to make fun of one of her teachers.
“One of my favorite teachers, Ms. Phillips, is working from 5-6. In class, she seemed really excited to work, so I told her I would make sure to go and laugh at her,” she said.
