Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

RSD, Infinite Campus apps launched

RSD, Infinite Campus apps launched

When browsing through the applications in the iTunes App Store, Android Market or Blackberry App World, students, parents and teachers can now download a Rockwood School District App.

The app features “all the information that parents need to stay informed and involved with their child’s education.”

These features include lunch and breakfast menus, calendars, school news, principal blogs, staff and teacher contact information and directions to school locations.

Also among the features, according to the RSD website, are “links to school, district, Facebook and Twitter websites.”

Cathy Orta, RSD communications department, said “Rockwood Communications developed the Rockwood App within their department.  This allowed the district the flexibility to customize the app to meet the needs of our schools and parents.”

She also said the app is available as a mobile website, for easy access from other mobile devices.

Another new education-related app is an Infinite Campus app. As of right now, the Infinite Campus App is only available in the iTunes App store.

When asked if the app will be available for other devices, Orta said, “Because a third-party offers the app, that company, Infinite Campus, would initiate those upgrades to allow for additional smartphones.”

According to the Infinite Campus media website, they “are currently developing an Android version.”

The Infinite Campus app allows parents and students to check their child(ren)’s, or their own, schedule, grades, assignments and attendance information.

“Our mobile app is easy. The home screen gets you right where you want to go with a touch of the screen. It’s all right here, right now,” the Infinite Campus website states.

When asked about the app, junior Marissa DeAntoni said, “I didn’t know there was an Infinite Campus app, but now I will probably download it. Not if it costs money, though.”

DeAntoni, along with parents and all other students, is in luck, because the Infinite Campus and the RSD apps are available to be downloaded for free.

“The Apps allow our school community to have anywhere, anytime access. In Rockwood, we want to meet the needs of our school community so they can keep connected to their schools and education,” Orta said.

Both apps are free.
