Missouri Governor Jay Nixon will be visiting Lafayette and speaking to staff, press and local government officials on Jan. 7. This visit is a part of a tour by the Governor for high schools recently designated A+ program schools.
In order to prepare for the visit, the school has made several adjustments.
“We are preparing based on an agenda and logistics the Governor sent us,” Principal John Shaughnessy said.
A small portion of the west parking lot will be roped off for media and special guests.
The Governor is set to arrive at 12:45 p.m. and meet with the superintendent, administrators and several others. From 1-1:20 p.m. Nixon will be touring the school.
After the tour, he will give remarks on the A+ program and then answer questions. Nixon is set to depart at 1:45 pm.
In order to spare Nixon from hallway traffic, 5th Hour will be extended to 1:20 p.m., followed by a usual passing period. 6th Hour will still end at 2:10 p.m., while 7th hour will be unaffected.
