The Quill and Scroll Society, an organization that recognizes and rewards high school journalists has received five new members.
Image staff members and seniors Rachel Brown, Courtney McBay and Mina Yu, as well as Legendstaff members and seniors Liz Desloge and Kelly Lacey were accepted into Quill and Scroll.
In order to be accepted into the Quill and Scroll Society, applicants had to fulfill a series of requirements, including ranking in the top one-third of their class, writing an essay and submitting samples of published work.
In addition, Brown was declared a National Winner in the 2010 International Writing and Photo Contest. Her editorial cartoon, “College,” was one of 36 winning entries, out of a total of 166 entries.
The new members were initiated at the Student Publications banquet on April 25, where they took the Society’s pledge and received their badges of membership.
