Last season, the Lafayette girls golf team went undefeated in matches with a record of 8-0. They were able to get one player, senior Addy Surber, to state last year, but Head Coach Katrina Clark hopes to send even more in the 2024 season.
“My ultimate goal is to get the whole team [to state], but even if we don’t get the whole team we want to get more individuals there,” Clark said.
Unlike other fall sports, girls golf has only lost two of their key players to the graduating class of 2023.
“All four of our top players from last year are returners, so we didn’t lose any of our big impactors of the team,” Clark said.
The key players to watch are seniors Lila Dantuono, Josie Masterson and Surber, junior Lexi Napuli, sophomore Caroline Ware and freshman Charlotte Stafford, according to Clark.
Surber has placed at the girls golf State Tournament every season since her freshman year.
“Surber is a returning All-State player. She got 9th in state last year, and she is definitely our leader and our top player,” Clark said.
Masterson also finds herself among the top performing on the team.
“I plan to improve on my own game with golf, and the relationships with the new and previous girls on the team,” Masterson said, “I am excited to live out my senior year with an amazing group of girls and have the most fun we can.”
Although she is still waiting for her players to prove themselves, Clark said that this upcoming team will be one of the best teams she has had.
“On paper we have a lot of talent, and I am definitely really excited for this season to see what they can do,” Clark said.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
