Staff

Baseball

The Lancers faced off against Kirkwood April 26 and shutout Kirkwood, 5-0. Junior Tripp Johns went 1-3 in the game, with a home run. Junior Sam Williams pitched a complete game with six strikeouts and was credited with the win. The Lancers again took on Kirkwood April 27 and lost, 14-6. Junior Jackson Weidner went 2-3, with a double, a home run and a stolen base and two RBI in the game. The Lancers were scheduled to face Parkway West April 29, but the game was cancelled due to inclement weather. The Lancers play Eureka May 3 at 4:30 p.m. at Eureka and face off against Eureka again May 4 at 4:30 p.m. at home. The Lancers will also face off against Timberland May 6 at 4:15 at home.

Girls Lacrosse

The Lancers beat Parkway West in blowout fashion, 16-4 April 26. Senior Ansley Hails scored five goals during the game. She also had two assists during the game. The Lancers continued to win in blowout fashion April 27, beating Westminister, 15-5. Hails once again had a strong showing, scoring four goals and recording three assists. Junior Natalie Tomljenovic also had a strong showing, scoring three goals and recording one assist. The Lancers continued their dominant run, beating O’Fallon, 16-6. Sophomore Adalia Romero had a strong showing, scoring five goals. Tomlijenovic and junior Kara Niewoehner also had strong showings during the game, with both scoring four goals each. The Lancers have won four in a row dating back to April 23 and looking to increase their winning streak, playing next against Ladue May 3 at 4:15 p.m at home., Villa Duchesne at 4:15 p.m. May 5 at home and MICDS at 5:45 p.m. May 6 at home.

Boys Lacrosse

Starting the week April 26, the Lancers faced Kirkwood, losing, 10-6. April 28 the Lancers had another tough game against Vianney, losing, 13-10. The Lancers will take on Lindbergh for a home game at 7:30 p.m May 4. Ending the week May 7, the Lancers will face the Eureka Wildcats for an away game at 11 a.m.

Boys Golf

The Lancers finished in first place at the Lake Forest Challange for the second year in a row with a total of 318 points April 25. Senior Kyle Rinkenberger had a score of 75 strokes and was three over par and tied for first place individually. Senior Trip Sanfelippo had a score of 76 strokes and was four over par. He finished in third place induvidually.  The Lancers also participated in the Rockwood Quad April 29 and finished in third place.

Girls Soccer

The Lancers had a successful week, winning two of the three games they played. Though they lost their match against Fort Zumwalt South at the Meg Herndon Showcase, 2-1, they were able to beat Francis Howell and Lindbergh April 26 and April 28, respectively. With a 3-1 win against Francis Howell, senior Rylee Howard and sophomore Emily Derucki both scored a goal for the team. While playing against Lindbergh, Howard extended her goal streak along with senior Mikayla Morales, ending the game with a 2-0 win. The team will be facing Fort Zumwalt West at home May 2 at 4:15 p.m., Fox May 3 at 4:30 p.m. and Eureka May 5 at 6 p.m. The team only has two weeks left in the regular season with an overall season record of 11-3 so far.

Girls Track and Field

The Lancers participated in the Kimball/Wintermeyer Girls Invite at Eureka High School April 28 and finished in second place overall. Senior Paige Halter finished in second place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.27. Freshman Avery Brown finished in first place in the 400-meter run. Junior Grace Tyson finished in first place in the 3200-meter run. In the 4×800-meter relay, the team composed of Brown, sophomore Natalie Barnard, junior Elissa Barnard and Tyson finished in first place. Sophomore Makenna Weiss finished in tenth place in the 100-meter hurdles event. In the 800-meter sprint relay, the Lancers finished in sixth place with a time of 2:01.80. In the distance medley relay, the Lancers finished in fourth place with a time of 13:29.08. In the triple jump event, freshman Maya Witherspoon finished in third place and junior Caitlyn Little finished in fourth place in the same event. In the pole vault event, senior Grace Rigabar finished in fifth place. In the shot put event, junior Alexandra Franke finished in seventh place. The Lancers next participate in the Suburban Yellow Girls Confrence Championships at Marquette High School May 6.

Boys Track and Field

The Lancers participated in the Jum Schmuck Patriot Invitational at Parkway South April 28 and finished in second place overall. In the 100-meter dash, senior Alexander Wildt finished in first place with a time of 11.09. In the 800-meter run, senior Nikolas Malek finished in first place with a time of 1:58.39 and fellow senior Samuel Aven finished in third place in the same event with a time of 2:01.05. Junior Lukas Groenewald finished in second place in the 1600-meter run and senior Bross Miller finished in third place in the same event. Freshman Jack Robeson finished in first place in the 3200-meter run with a time of 9:46.24. In the 4×400-meter relay, the team composed of Groenewald, Aven, Malek and Miller finished in first place. The Lancers finished in second place in the 4×100-meter relay with a time of 43.83. The Lancers also finished in third place in the 4×200-meter relay with a time of 1:34.44. In the distance medley, the team composed of sophomore Isaac Jovcevski, junior Brycen Compton, Malek and Wildt finished in first place. Freshman Santino Stith finished in sixth place in the 300-meter hurdles event. In the high jump event, sophomore Matthew Hoeft finished in ninth place. Senior Euan Brodie finished in fourth place in the long jump event and Jovcevski finished in sixth place in the same event. Freshman Thomas Preckel finished in second place in the triple jump event and Hoeft finished in fifth place in the same event. Senior Ryan Swan finished in sixth place in the pole vault event and fellow senior Corban Leslie finished in ninth place in the same event. Senior Landon Oelschlaeger finished in fourth place in the discus event and Preckel finished right behind in fifth place. Senior Tucker Ryan finished in tenth place in the javelin event. Preckel finished in seventh place in the shot put event and sophomore Bradley Ambrose finished in tenth place in the same event. The Lancers next participate in the Suburban Yellow Boys Confrence Championships at Kirkwood May 5.

Boys Tennis

On April 20, the Lancers took on the Chaminade Red Devils on the road and lost, 6-3. On the next day, April 26, the Lancers faced off against Francis Howell and narrowly lost, 5-4. On April 27, they took on the Mustangs of Parkway West and lost, 8-1. They then played a close game against Kirkwood and lost, 5-4, extending their losing streak to seven games. The Lancers currently possess a 1-9 overall season record. The Lancers will face Timberland on May 2 at 4:15 p.m. and play their last regular-season game against Parkway Central May 3 at 4:15 p.m. Both of these games will be away games.

Boys Volleyball

The Lancers took on the Seckman Jaguars April 26. Sweeping the Jaguars in all five sets, sophomore Sean Meyer and freshman Ethan Tran both scoring the team 12 points. The team participated in the Lafayette Volleyball Tournament April 30, with a final record of 1-3 in the tournament. The Lancers host the Marquette Mustangs May 2 at 5:30 p.m.

Girls Water Polo

The Lancers fell to Ladue, 13-10 April 25. The Lancers also lost to Marquette, who scored more than two points each quarter, 14-7 April 28. Senior Casey Murphy continued her strong showing, scoring five goals in the game. The Lancers next face off against Marquette again at John Burroughs April 30 at 9 a.m. The Lancers currently have an overall record of 8-10.

Boys Water Polo

The Lancers fell to Ladue, 20-8. Senior Dylan Vorbeck scored four goals in the game.The Lancers currently posses a 13-10 overall season record. The Lancers look to increase that record when they take on CBC May 2 at 5:30 p.m. at home. The Lancers currently possess a 4-6 overall record against CBC.
