The Walking Dead moves into its 6th Season

It keeps us on our the edge of our seat, gripping the remote, and occasionally makes us gasp in either surprise or disgust it’s The Walking Dead.

The show, based on the comic by Kirkman, follows a group of survivors in a zombie apocalypse that are constantly on the move trying to find hope in a world overrun with Zombies. Last season, the one strand of hope that there may be a cure in Washington D.C. was diminished with the reveal that Eugene (played by Josh McDermitt) has no knowledge of a cure and simply used this idea as a ploy to make the other members of the group protect him. The reveal was earth shattering to the characters and as a fan of the show I really felt for the characters, but I want the show to continue in the way it has been going and if there was a cure the show would drastically change.

For those of you who don’t watch the show it may merely seem like a typically show about zombies and the gruesome scenes that go along with them, but it’s less about the that and more about the characters. As their sixth season starts, the characters that have been dearly missed are finally back.

Rick Grime (played by Andrew Lincoln) is the leader of the group or he was, as the show as progressed through the seasons he has become less and less in touch with reality. No one can blame him for going a little crazy in a world overrun with zombies. Also appearing on the pilot of this season is Michonne (played by Danai Gurira), Glenn (played by Steven Yeun), and the character introduced last season Noah (played by Tyler James Williams). The show’s characters and fans are just now getting over the losses of last season with the deaths of Bob (played by  Lawrence Gilliard, Jr.) and then in the season five finale the tragic death of Beth (played by Emily Kinney). Personally, I’m still not over Beth’s death and now the premier brought dramatic death of Tyrone, which I was not ready for

This season is sure to bring more drama and zombies, but will it be as fast passed as previous seasons? Personally, the first few seasons were the best and there was a lot going on. Now, it seems like the story is slowing down, making it suspenseful but long. The writers have already claimed to have benchmarks for the 11th and 12th Season if they get that far. As a fan of the show I am hoping they make it that long I think there is definitely a willing audience for the show, if the story line continues to have us on the edge of our seats until the end.
