Although Lambert Airport ranks the highest among Missouri airports, it seems to be lacking when it comes to the national level.
Having gone through many airports across the nation, I have to say that Lambert is one of the least attractive among them all, not to mention the most outdated.
After looking at the ratings on Lambert’s own website, the airport never got anything above a 3.7 from its own users.
Going to other airports as close as Chicago O’hare International (ORD) it is obvious that there is a huge difference between the two. For instance ORD has a large and very modern food court in the middle with many options from fast food to healthy salads.
Also, the inside of ORD is gorgeous, with exceedingly high ceilings and large pillars all the way up; its hard to believe that you are in an airport.
On the other hand, Lambert is old, with not the cleanest of environments. The chairs are flattened after millions of people have sat upon them, the floors appear dirty and the selection of stores is amazingly repetitive.
For a visitor coming out of town in to St. Louis, that airport is the very first impression that they have on our city. St. Louis is full of variety with places like the City Museum, the Arch, The river, the Delmar loop and the Cardinals baseball team.
So why is it that we cant have an up to date airport to match our city’s style?
After my experience over the past years with Lambert, I have to say there isn’t much there, it’s unattractive and somewhat confusing. I would be lying if I didn’t say I’ve gotten lost many times.
Compared to the many other airports I’ve been to, I’m honestly disappointed to call Lambert ‘my’ airport.
It’s lacking what makes it unique, and it definitely doesn’t have any style.
It’s an airport, just an airport, nothing more to it.
In this day and age that just isn’t enough to compete with the other top airports across our country.
I am very disappointed with my experience at Lambert, it is not what I would want when I go to an airport. Along with the actual structure and building of the airport itsself, it’s hard to leave out the people.
It was my first time flying alone and I wasn’t sure where to go (and i was late), the people that are at the counters to help and assist didn’t know what they were doing. I was late for my flight, they knew that and yet they were still moving like snails.
The people flying in that airport were not very friendly themselves, of course Lambert cant control that but of course it still adds to the all around experience.
For an airport, I personally would have to say Lambert is nothing special, i would not recommend it as a mode of transportation, if you have another option, take it.
