Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

LHS’ annual canned food drive was sponsored by STUCO and ran from Oct. 30 to Nov. 17.

Lancers donated a total of 8,796 cans, which are going to the Circle of Concern.

“I’m very proud of everyone. We really made a difference,” STUCO sponsor David Choate said.

The 5th Hour class that collected the most cans was journalism teacher Nancy Smith’s Journalism Writing and Reporting class, which collected a total of 2,340 cans. The class will receive a Qdoba party to recognize them for winning the competition.

“Nancy Smith’s class dominated. This year, she crushed it,” Choate said.

In addition, junior Jessie Kennington brought in the most cans as in individual, with 772 cans, winning her an iPad.

“Knowing that we have the ability to help people who are less fortunate than us was my main motivation. Also, I love a good competition and I was determined to bring in the most. It’s a win-win, because I am helping people in need but could also get an iPad out of it,” Kennington said.
