October 31, 2016
On Nov. 13, the all levels of Lafayette’s cheerleading teams will meet in the gym to host an annual event, Cheer for Charity. The event isn’t limited to Lancer teams. Other local cheer and dance squads are invited, along with spectators from around the community In addition, the Junior Lancers cheer squad, a team consisting of kids who aren’t in high school, participates with the LHS team.
All donations from the event will be given to the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House is an international foundation that rewards scholarships and provides housing for families while their child is in long-term care at a hospital.
The team performs their Homecoming routine at the event, a routine that they have been practicing since Aug. 1, before school started.
“The routine for Cheer for Charity is slightly different because we add a cheer to it that includes all four levels of the Junior Lancer Cheerleaders, so we will have around 140 cheerleaders on the floor for that one cheer,” Varsity Cheer Coach Margaret Levine said.
Myiah Hall, one of the cheer captains, said, “We (the cheerleaders) do it every year.”
“We collect soap or household items to give to the Ronald McDonald Foundation,” Hall said.
The event starts at 1:30 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m., according to Hall.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
