McAlister’s Deli offers world-famous sweet tea

Located at 14848 Manchester Road, McAlister’s Deli has proven to be one of my favorite lunch destinations.

Not only does it serve over 23 types of sandwiches, 8 variations of “spuds”, and 9 salads, but McAlister’s offers incredible tea.

Available as sweetened or unsweetened, this iced tea has become McAlister’s trademark.  On mcalistersdeli.com, the restaurant attempts to dispel any rumors about how the tea is made:

  • “No, we didn’t steal it from the Russian secret service.
  • No, it wasn’t originally a recipe developed by a Chinese monk.
  • No, it’s not made from a rare tea leaf found only in the Amazon.
  • No, it’s not filled with anything illegal.
  • No, we don’t have grandma held hostage in the back room making batch after batch.
  • And no, you can’t have the recipe. That’s our little secret, but we’d be happy to pour you a glass.”

McAlister’s tea has become such a hit that there is a website, teafreakstshirt.com, where one can purchase a specialty McAlister’s “tea-shirt”.

McAlister’s also provides catering services and is open from 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m.
