Lee becomes master at solving classic Rubik’s Cube puzzle

With over 350 million sold worldwide, the Rubik’s Cube is widely considered the most popular toy of all time. The classic game celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, and it continues to puzzle players of all ages.

The 3 inch by 3 inch cube consists of red, yellow, white, green, blue and orange squares that rotate. The object is to get every side of the cube the same color by rotating the different rows of colored squares.

For most, solving a Rubik’s Cube is frustrating and nearly impossible. Junior Tiffany Lee, however, has mastered the skill.

After watching a friend quickly solve the puzzle, Lee wanted to know the secret, and asked her friend to teach her.

“There’s a certain pattern of steps that you must follow to solve different parts of the cube,” Lee said.

After considerable practice, Lee can now solve the puzzle in under a minute and a half.

She said, “Most people are really amazed when I start to solve it because I can finish them pretty quickly now.”

Along with solving the basic cube, Lee has also learned some other tricks.

She said, “After solving the Rubik’s Cube you can make different patterns. Like instead of having the cube be the same color on each side you can make it to look like a checker board or the middle square’s color different from the squares around it.”

With time and practice, Lee has turned her puzzle-solving skill into a unique and interesting talent.
