Chesterfield Arts student design team ‘makes their mark’

Chesterfield Arts, a non-profit art organization by Chesterfield Mall, developed a student design team to paint a mural on the levee in Chesterfield Valley off Edison Road.

The student team is organizing the Make Your Mark event.

The team of 60 students are comprised in four different groups which include a design team, a wall preparation team, a marketing team and an event planning/logistics team.

Executive Director of Chesterfield Arts Stacey Morse said each student was able to pick the team he or she was most interested in for the project.

Each division within the team has specific goals and tasks to make the mural event run smoothly.

The mural was originally going to be painted in October, but the construction of the flood wall is not finished. Chesterfield Arts pushed back the date to June 2.

But, there is still much preparation to be done.

On Sept. 28 the wall preparation and design painted an ad to get people’s attention as they pass by the levee.

Morse, said, “A good group came out on Tuesday afternoon and painted the mural message on the flood wall. It was fun and made things go quickly.”
