Homecoming hall decorations competition resumes

This year, students stayed after school to work on banners for this year’s Homecoming. Each grade level had a different theme to work on. The freshmen had the theme 90’s cartoons, the sophomores 90s game shows, the juniors 90s dramas and the seniors 90s comedies.

Students who stayed after on Tuesday and spent several hours working on their hall decorations to outdo the others and win the competition.  They were then revealed on Wednesday morning. The winner will be announced at the Friday Pep Assembly.

The banners, however, were in the same spot as they usually are.

“They’re in the main hallway by the newspaper room and the Renaissance posters this year. They’ll also stay up the whole week,” sophomore vice president Abby Robeson said.

Last year, the traditional hall decorating was replaced with the classes having banners that were hung up in the Commons. However, this year, the hallway decorations were brought back but altered a bit to have all the major hallways filled with items.  The decorated walls were in the main entrance to the building.

“I don’t think the banners were as popular,” Principal Karen Calcaterra said. “The students liked hallway decorations better and wanted to display them.”
