At the 2023 Prom, Class of 2023 graduates Joe Marlo and Will Barry stay at the edge of the main floor to do their dancing. Because the small dance floor was the most crowded area, many students gathered around the edges with friends or in small groups.

Winter Pep Assembly to feature, recognize multiple groups

On Friday, Jan. 11, the Gym will be inhabited with the entire student body for the Winter Pep Assembly which will recognize multiple sports teams and feature performances by various pep groups.

“All winter athletes are recognized, so basketball, swimming and wrestling. We’re also recognizing the volleyball team for their State Championship,” David Choate, Student Council sponsor and pep assembly coordinator, said.

In addition, Choate said both levels of Escadrille, along with all three levels of Cheerleading will perform at the assembly.  Also performing this year will be the pep band known as Home Court Advantage.

As far as the day’s class schedule, it will follow the pep assembly bell schedule. For this particular schedule, follow this link:

For students who have reason to leave school prior to the assembly, the usual procedure outlined in the student handbook will apply. This entails a parent note or phone call; parents must call before lunch, because approved passes will be handed out during all three lunch periods.

During the week of Dec. 10-14, students had an opportunity to vote for a favorite teacher to perform the “Gangnam Style” dance during the assembly. Chris Lofgren, science teacher, was the winner because he had the most money in his charity box.

“I have no idea how I won, I guess people just put money in my box,” he said.

Despite his hesitation, Lofgren said he is anticipating the event and is excited to perform.
