Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

Taste of West County fundraiser features new faces, familiar flavors

Taste of West County fundraiser features new faces, familiar flavors

The 13th annual Taste of West County event is to take place on Feb. 27 and with over 25 restaurants participating, attendees will have wide variety of choices to sample.

Food items that will be offered include pizzas, snacks, barbeque, deserts and breakfast food.

Some restaurants participate in the event every year and with 17 restaurants returning from last year, the Taste of West County staff said they know which restaurants to contact year after year.

“Nachos are always a big hit with students,” Jodi Treat, head of recruiting local restaurants to participate, said.

Though many restaurants are the same as last year, the event always brings new restaurants in to keep the event fresh.

“We have two gluten free options this year which is something new for us,” Treat said.

The event, which is a fundraiser for the Class of 2013, includes ten new restaurants to try.

Not only are there samples of different foods, but there is also to be a silent auction and raffle during the Taste of West County event.

Tickets will be on sale on the stage at all lunches until Feb. 27. It is recommended to buy tickets in advance as, though tickets are sold at the door, there is no guarantee of remaining tickets to the event.

Treat said, “We are restricted to a thousand people, so we may sell out this year.”

The Taste of West County will run from 5:30-8 p.m. on the 27.
