Lancers face their toughest matchup for Homecoming

Lancers face their toughest matchup for Homecoming

The Lancers and Patriots both march into this Friday night matchup with a record of 7-0, only one team will continue their undefeated season.

After cruising past their last six opponents with a combined score of 289-27, the Lancers head into their toughest opponent yet.

The Parkway South Patriots have just recently entered the top 10 for large school rankings, sitting at #10 going into Friday’s matchup. The Patriots have had a very similar year compared to the Lancers, recording numerous touchdowns and shutting down teams with solid defense.

Many of the Lancer seniors are looking to make a huge impact in their last Homecoming game at Lafayette. Senior Deonte Robinson leads the way for the Lancers at running back, scoring 11 touchdowns already on the year.

The passing game of the Lancers is also something to talk about, senior Matt Goro has thrown 12 touchdowns and has a quarterback rating of 120.54 for the season.

Head Coach Boyd Manne also likes to switch things up during the game by subbing in junior Evan Scales at quarterback. Scales’ ability to run has thrown off many defenses this year.

Another weapon for Lafayette is the dual threat senior John Voit. Voit has received for 272 yards and three touchdowns at tight end, and also has recorded 49 total tackles and 5 sacks while playing defense.

Though both the Patriots and the Lancers have played rather weak schedules, the fact that they have both obliterated their opponents this year makes for a great matchup Friday. The showdown begins at 7:30 p.m.
