At the 2023 Prom, Class of 2023 graduates Joe Marlo and Will Barry stay at the edge of the main floor to do their dancing. Because the small dance floor was the most crowded area, many students gathered around the edges with friends or in small groups.

“Cookie Stand” features new items

Cookie+Stand+features+new+items

Beginning with the 2012-13 school year, the infamous cookie stand will be under new “management.” In past years, Business teacher Scott Sissom has been in charge of stocking and selling the stand, but now the job is in the hands of Business teacher Matt Landwehr.

“I’m in charge of a lot of the fundraising around our school so when Coach Sissom went to Marquette, they asked me if I could step in and take it over,” Landwehr said.

He is sure that the cookie stand  will continue to be a success, especially because it will now sell new items. Items other than cookies, that is.

These new items include soft pretzels and frappuccinos. The frappuccinos will come in two different flavors, mocha (chocolate) and vanilla. Of course cookies will still be on the menu, and according to Landwehr, the stand will still sell chocolate chip cookies and it may feature other flavors every once in a while.

As far as prices, Landwehr said, “The cookie prices will be the same [as past years] and right now we’re still sorting out prices on the other stuff, but we’re going to keep them as affordable as possible.”

He is hoping to have the stand open during the first week of school, but he said the preparation may cause it to open sometime during the next week.

When asked if he thinks the cookie stand will take on a new name with the addition of the new items, Landwehr said, “Probably not. I think the cookie stand kind of has a tradition around here. It has been around ever since I was in school so I think it will still be ‘the cookie stand’”
