At the 2023 Prom, Class of 2023 graduates Joe Marlo and Will Barry stay at the edge of the main floor to do their dancing. Because the small dance floor was the most crowded area, many students gathered around the edges with friends or in small groups.

“A casual stroll with a significant goal”

‘A casual stroll with a significant goal’ is what Wildwood is calling the Bandana Bash/Wildwood 5K Walk this Saturday, Sept. 8, at 9 a.m.

Our own school’s track will be hosting the 5K this year, with Bandana Bash activities following the walk at the final destination, Zicks Great Outdoors.

Although it is too late to register early for the walk and be guaranteed a t-shirt,  participants will still be able to pay the $25 at the time of the walk. The registration fee will include: t-shirt, refreshments (at start and finish) as well as a pancake breakfast at Zicks Great Outdoors. There will also be shuttle service to transport participants back to Lafayette after the event.

All proceeds from the event will go to “Friends Of Kids With Cancer” and “Leukemia 24/7.”

According to the Wildwood City home page, “These two well-known charities are committed to helping children with cancer as well as furthering the research and care for cancer diseases.”

Gary Crews, Superintendent of Parks and Recreations for the city of Wildwood said, “Participation/ registration right now is small, and we are only anticipating 50 participants for our first year. In the future, it is our hope to make this a wonderful family event, and it is our desire to grow the 5K walk to several hundred participants.”

Events will be taking place all day at Zicks as part of the Bandana Bash.

“There will be live music all day with four bands and three stages. From noon until 4 p.m. there will be burgers and brats. From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. there will be a family pig roast,” Crews said.

People not participating in the 5K walk are encouraged to still attend the pancake breakfast and make donations. As for the pig roast, the cost is $25 per person or $50 for a family.

“It will be a wonderful time for a wonderful cause,” Crews concluded.
