Trotier named new Rockwood Summit Principal

Starting July 1, Associate Principal Renee Trotier will become Rockwood Summit High School’s Principal.

“What I need to do now is start to get accustomed to the Rockwood Summit community,” Trotier said.  “I used to work for Central Office so I have familiarity with the school from then, but I really need to understand the community and get together with parents and kids and talk about what we want to do.”

Trotier has served as both a grade level Assistant Principal and as the Associate Principal in her four years at Lafayette.

“The Associate Principal is the Principal when the Principal is away, and I work closely with Shaughnessy,” Trotier explained. “My role is getting the staff development for teachers, I build the master schedule, I work with the grade level principals, I evaluate teachers and support staff.”

Trotier continued, “My Associate Principal role has been great preparation for the head Principal position.”

“This is a very exciting experience for [Trotier] and it is a well deserved honor for her to take over a high school,” Principal John Shaughnessy said.

He added, “In the four years she has been here, she has been a very instrumental role in the development of our staff and has made a huge impact on our administrative team. She will truly be missed, but her time here will now be put to test. We will support her in her new job.”

Once Trotier vacates her position as Associate Principal, a new candidate will take over for the 2011-2012 school year.

“The posting for the Associate Principal will probably start [March 13], then it will have to sit for two weeks, then interviews will begin once that’s completed,” Shaughnessy explained.

According to Shaughnessy, new Associate Principal candidates will proceed through several rounds of interviewing.  It will start with an interview with Central Office, then the pool will be narrowed down.  Those who make it through will move on to interviews with three committees, a parent committee, a teacher/administrative committee and then a student committee. The final candidates will ultimately continue to one more Central Office interview.
