Two Lafayette students have recently been named in the Missouri Scholars 100 program, which recognizes 100 academically excelling seniors from high schools across Missouri.
Schools across Missouri nominated students from their schools to be a part of this recognition program and seniors Sarah Hereford and Kelly Lamarche were selected.
“I’m honored. It’s awesome to think that I am one of the top 100 in the state,” Lamarche said.
According to the Rockwood School District website, “Selection is based primarily on a formula using the student’s grade point average and ACT or SAT score.”
“They pick students with a certain GPA and a certain ACT and then they put them through an Academic Decathlon where they look at all the courses they’ve taken,” Lamarche said.
Four students in the Rockwood School District are now considered a part of the Missouri Scholars 100 program, and two of these students are from Lafayette. The other two students are from Eureka and Rockwood Summit.
They will all be recognized on May 1 in Columbia, MO.
