When the Fox 2 News network approached local schools to feature a football game this week, Activities Director Steve Berry jumped at the chance.
“Before school even started, I responded ‘We want to do it,’” he said.
On Sept. 9, Lafayette will hold a pep assembly in the Gym that will be filmed by Fox 2 to show on a live newscast. Students are asked to arrive at 6:30 a.m. and coverage is scheduled to begin at 6:30 and continue on and off throughout.
The festivities will include performances by the Lancer Regiment marching band, varsity cheerleaders and Escadrille. All fall sports teams will also be recognized. Senior Kyle Glennon will also lead Superfans in their signature Roller Coaster routine.
“It’s not going to be a thing where we just sit there and wait for the cameras to start,” Berry said.
With a Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony scheduled for the same morning, the pep assembly will end at 7:45 a.m. and students will move directly to the Stadium. For more information on the morning’s events, students are encouraged to listen for announcements at lunch and visit the Superfan Facebook page.
