Social Studies teacher Steve Klawiter will have his AP World History class take the digital exam this May. He said he looks forward to seeing how his students will perform on the exam. “Its been very clear theyre moving towards digital. Since the pandemic started, theyve been putting the pieces in place to go digital, Klawiter said. “I think that ultimately it’s going to be more beneficial because with systems like Canvas and Google Classroom, students are used to more digital activities and less handwriting activities.”

Lady Lancers win 26th Consecutive Conference Title

After two days of intense competition, the Lady Lancer swimming and diving team brought home its 26th consecutive Conference title on Feb. 11.

“It feels fantastic,” Coach Todd Gabel said. “It’s been talked about way too long, so I’m glad we’ve finally got it. I’m very happy for my girls.”

The whole team stepped up to earn the team’s total of 507 points, beating out second place Parkway South with 443.5 and third place Marquette with 409.

There were many new personal bests achieved at the meet, perhaps most notably by the 400 free relay team. The team, which is comprised of senior Taylor Paskoff, sophomores Gretchen Cox and Laura Paskoff and freshman Mar Riordan, won the event with a time of 3:43.17.

Also earning major points for the team were Lafayette’s three divers, senior Alyssa Shaw, sophomore Kelly Shaw and freshman Sophie Gebauer, who earned second, third and fourth place respectively.

The Lady Lancers celebrated their Conference victory in true champion fashion, by getting Coach Gabel into the pool.

“It felt great,” Coach Gabel said, laughing. “Really good.”

The next step for the team will be to defend their State title at the St.Peters Rec Plex on Feb. 18-19.
