On April 8, during the eclipse, librarians, Jane Lingafelter and Robin Van Iwaarden, look at the sun using solar viewers, while on the field. Students and staff spent time on the field during the eclipse. The next partial eclipse in Missouri wont be till 2045.

Great Forest Park Balloon Race succeeds with flying colors

The 39th annual Forest Park Balloon Race and Balloon Glow took place on the weekend of Sept. 16-17.

On Sept. 16, all of the race participants lit their burners and let them “glow” for spectators. Following this was a firework show. On Sept. 17, the actual race took place.

According to the event’s website, First place, second place and third place awards were given out to Larry Owen, Joe Nusrala and John Daugherty, respectively.

Also according to their website, “The 2011 Great Forest Park Balloon Race and Balloon Glow occured with great success.”
