On Tuesday, Nov. 8 Call of Duty: (COD) Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) was released.

While the hype, the long lines and the all-nighters surrounding the release were well anticipated, the backfire was not.

With the release of MW3 came the introduction of Elite, which can be seen as a social site in which gamers can register to keep track of player statistics and multi-player data; however, the server capacity has been reached. A statement was released via COD’s twitter account that Elite is currently being expanded in capacity, and issues will resolve in the coming days.

Senior Ryan Jones, Elite tag “Ryanj02E5”, preordered the game in April and received it at the midnight release at GameStop.

“I played it for six or seven hours straight every night the first three days,” Jones said.

Tuesday, Jones played from midnight until he had to get ready for school around 5:00 am. Wednesday night, Jones played from 9:00 pm till about 3:00 am.

Jones concluded with a final thought, “I love it.”

While many are enjoying MW3, others hold a different view point.

Sophomore Lexi Mandis said, “I’m so sick of it. My boyfriend, Ryan, calls me while he’s playing it.”

Mandis said her boyfriend, sophomore Ryan Mueller, plays every night.

“It’s depressing,” Mandis said.

MW3 has proven itself popular, affecting more than just those who play it.
