Almost 5,000 items collected for Operation Food Search

During Rockwood Reading Week, a food and toiletry collection was held, called Feed Before You Read.

All of the donations were given to Operation Food Search, who distributed the nearly 5,000 items to needy people all around the St. Louis area.

Principal John Shaugnessy said, “I am continually amazed at the generosity of our staff, students, and the Lafayette community With the conclusion of our 2nd annual Rockwood Reading Week “Feed Before You Read” food drive, we have collectively made a difference for the needing families and children of St. Louis.”

People and groups such as AnnMarie Gilman, Student Council NHS, JROTC, Michele Rodgers, Joe Belfiore, Amy White and Chris Lofgren were especially helpful in getting the donations needed to make the difference we did.

Shaugnessy concluded, “This year we donated nearly 5,000 items which signifies that we have established a yearly tradition and valuable partnership with Operation Food Search. Simply, thanks to everyone for your generosity.”
