At the 2023 Prom, Class of 2023 graduates Joe Marlo and Will Barry stay at the edge of the main floor to do their dancing. Because the small dance floor was the most crowded area, many students gathered around the edges with friends or in small groups.

Lancer soccer falls to Oakville, gets back on track against Hazelwood West

Two weeks of posters, announcements and Facebook messages led up to varsity soccer’s Oct. 1 match versus Oakville. But despite the biggest home crowd the team has seen this season, the Lancers fell to the Tigers 4-3 in penalty kicks.

After two intense halves of play, the score stood at 0-0, and the two teams went into two periods of overtime before penalty kicks were taken.

Senior Nick Tolmais and juniors Blake Hoover and Jean-Luc Panchot all made their shots, but it was not enough to beat the Tigers in the end.

The loss to Oakville was only the team’s second of the season, the first being to Hazelwood West.

On Oct. 4 the Lancers faced Hazelwood West for the second time, beating the Wildcats 2-0. They then went on to play Parkway South on Oct. 5, tying the Patriots 1-1.

The Lancers next game is against the Lindbergh Flyers and is scheduled for Oct. 7 at 4:15 at Lindbergh High School.
