Sophomore Seraphina Blackmon lives in North St. Louis city, and she has grown up around such violence, but despite her experiences, she still highly regards the area.

To lead the juniors to victory in a game of tug-of-war at the Homecoming Kickoff on Sunday, Sept. 23, Garrett McGowan fights to pull the rope towards his class. The juniors defeated the sophomores, only to later fall to the senior class. "I could feel myself slipping, and I didn't want to lose, but I'm glad the juniors won against the sophomores," McGowan said.

During the junior versus sophomore tug-of-war game, the sophomore class tries to muscle the rope towards them. The sophomores lost the game to the juniors, but the juniors went on to fall to the senior class.

At the girls basketball team's booth, elementary schoolers shoot baskets on the girls' hand-made basketball hoops and try to win a prize.

At the girls swim teams' duck pool booth at the Homecoming kickoff, science teacher Elizabeth Overcash's dog plays in the water. At the event, several clubs and teams ran booths with games and prizes for elementary schoolers in the community.

During the junior versus sophomore tug-of-war game at the Homecoming kickoff on Sept. 23, the junior class attempts to pull the rope to their side of the football field and defeat the sophomores.

During the Sept. 11 girls volleyball game against Webster Groves, junior Brooke Borgmeyer hits a set from sophomore Jenny Nguyen. Borgmeyer had eight kills in the Lancers' two set victory over the Statesmen. At the conclusion of this week, the girls volleyball team has an overall record of eight wins and three losses.
