Homecoming kickoff promotes school spirit throughout community

On Sept. 23, Student Council (STUCO) held the annual Homecoming kickoff on the field to start Homecoming week festivities. However, the event was different from past years, as there was no Glow Run. Instead, the whole LHS community, including elementary and middle schoolers, was invited to participate in games and activities that several LHS teams and clubs set up and ran. The event also had food trucks and the Bubble Bus came to entertain both elementary and high schoolers. At the conclusion of the event, the movie Space Jam was shown on the field.
To lead the juniors to victory in a game of tug-of-war at the Homecoming Kickoff on Sunday, Sept. 23, Garrett McGowan fights to pull the rope towards his class. The juniors defeated the sophomores, only to later fall to the senior class. "I could feel myself slipping, and I didn't want to lose, but I'm glad the juniors won against the sophomores," McGowan said.
