Girls tennis looks forward to upcoming season

With such a deep team, I think we have a pretty good shot at State. I’m super excited for this season and I’m filled with nothing but positivity and hope,

— Laney Tvrdik

Although Caroline Pozo, girls tennis three time individual State Champion, has graduated and head coach Donna Stauffer has retired, the girls tennis team is optimistic about this 2017 season.

Sophomore Laney Tvrdik is excited about the opportunities Head Coach Mike Schaff will bring in his first year with the Lady Lancers.

“The loss of our old coach is bittersweet,” Tvrdik said, “Although our team is sad that we don’t have Donna anymore to help us and cheer us on, our new coach is driving us to be the best we can.”

Tvrdik also has high expectations for her team in the upcoming season.

“With such a deep team, I think we have a pretty good shot at State. I’m super excited for this season and I’m filled with nothing but positivity and hope,” Tvrdik said.

Girls tennis has their first match on Aug. 23 at 4 p.m. at LHS.
